Welcome to the second part of our "Hendrix-style" chords course! In this section we will be taking the theory we talked about in the Part 1 (adding pentatonics to chords) and learning the same lick based in each position. This is an effective way to put the Hendrix-style into practice! Some of these licks are very challenging, so take your time and, as always, have fun!
In the lick, we are using the chords F and Bb, and in this example, we are playing both chords using the C shape. The first thing you need to remember is that the C shape has pentatonic shape 4 underneath it, so that is where the notes of the lick are sourced. Take a look at the fretboard diagrams to clarify.
In the lick, we are using the chords F and Bb, and in this example, we are playing both chords using the A shape. The first thing you need to remember is that the A shape has pentatonic shape 5 underneath it, so that is where the notes of the lick are sourced. Take a look at the fretboard diagrams to clarify.
In the lick, we are using the chords F and Bb, and in this example, we are playing both chords using the G shape. The first thing you need to remember is that the G shape has pentatonic shape 1 underneath it, so that is where the notes of the lick are sourced. Take a look at the fretboard diagrams to clarify.
In the lick, we are using the chords F and Bb, and in this example, we are playing both chords using the E shape. The first thing you need to remember is that the E shape has pentatonic shape 2 underneath it, so that is where the notes of the lick are sourced. Take a look at the fretboard diagrams to clarify.
In the lick, we are using the chords F and Bb, and in this example, we are playing both chords using the D shape. The first thing you need to remember is that the D shape has pentatonic shape 3 underneath it, so that is where the notes of the lick are sourced. Take a look at the fretboard diagrams to clarify.
