Summary

Have fun jamming over this David Gilmour and Pink Floyd inspired backing track in the key of D minor. You can use a range of scales and arpeggios as the track only consists of two chords, a C major and a D minor. Try using your D minor pentatonic shapes, as well as the D minor scale and arpeggios, which we'll show you in this blog post.

Which chords?

The chords are super simple, you are either playing a D minor chord, or wen the chord changes, you are playing a C major chord. You can play these chords anywhere you like, but here are two basic suggestions:

Scale Shapes

The two most useable scales over this track are the D minor pentatonic and the D minor scale, both of which will fit perfectly as we are in the key of D minor. It is a great chance to practice your 5 shapes across the neck in both scales. They are pictured below:


Arpeggio Shapes

You can also use some cool three string arpeggio shapes, just like Gilmour does! Use the D minor over the D minor chord and the C major over the C major chord. The shapes are as shown here:
