The 12 Songs of Christmas
Back to coursesLevel
For 11 months of the year, you are working hard to improve your guitar skills, tackling new courses, lessons, licks, and songs and generally making progress. There is one month of the year, though, when it's time to take a break from the progression and have some serious Christmas fun! So, this December, join us in learning some classic Christmas songs, played with a mega twist!
So, that twist we talked about... It's pretty darn cool! For every classic Christmas song we're learning, we have chosen to rewrite it in the style of a specific genre or player. It's so much fun, and you will absolutely love every single one of them. It's a pretty cool line up too...
This mini-course is all about having fun! Choose the songs you want to learn, and perhaps get them ready to perform for your family this Christmas! We don't have our normal tuition video for this mini-series, just the write-up, interactive tab and the jam tracks. So if you do have any questions about how to play certain parts, head over to the Discord community and ask our mentors!
Let's kick off with the most epic rock version of this song you will have ever heard!
We now have a beginners fingerstyle piece for you to learn. I think this is one of the most beautiful melodies ever written!
We've gone all pop punk for this track, and given it a real Green Day feel! This means lots of powerchords, high gain and a very full on drum track!
We've worked out two incredible parts that are dripping in style & groove (if I do say so myself).
Why not combine the most well known Christmas melody with the heavy Texas style?
This track has such a naturally upbeat and uplifting feel to it, that we wanted to try it with an upbeat blues shuffle!
Now for something very special... Very special indeed! We couldn't do 12 songs of Christmas without performing the "12 Days Of Christmas"
This track beautifully lends itself to a metal style as it's already pretty dark sounding, even when you take away the epic levels of gain!
We couldn't do 12 songs without covering David Gilmour and Pink Floyd!
Tom Misch is well known for laying down slightly funkier & slightly jazzier chord progressions than your average pop guitar player.
It's time to bring the Rock! We want to bring everything that was great about Guns N' Roses era Slash to this epic Christmas classic!
For our final track we really dug deep to put together an extremely funky, Cory Wong style Christmas tune for you!
