Summary: Backpocket

This is a super funky and beautifully syncopated track from the masters of modern pop funk! Originally from the album Thrill Of The Arts, this track uses simple enough chords based on the CAGED chord system, but we really focus in on how to take those big chunky shapes and make them funky!

The Chords: Barre chords to little chords

We are predominanlty using barre chord shapes in this song, but we are loosing the low E and A string to remove the 'muddy' sound that we just don't need in this funky track. Below are all the chords that we use in the track.

The Rhythm: Funky 16ths!

The main groove in this song is over the main groove, which involves a very specific rhythm part. This part is written out below, but remember that you need to be changing the chords as Thomas shows you whilst playing this rhythm groove. NOTE: Use this as a basic guide for the rhythm but remember that there are variations through the verse, as Thomas guides you through in the video.

Wait For The Moment

This is probably the song that put Vulfpeck on the map! The beautiful chord sequence, combined with the spectacular soul vocals makes for one amazing song. Thomas walks you through the chord shapes that you can use to play the entire tune on the guitar.
