A little about Ky.
Ky has been playing rock guitar for over 20 years, performing and gigging with hundreds of bands along the way, from small local shows right through to more established touring projects. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in Commercial Music, which has given him a solid understanding of both the creative and practical sides of being a working musician. Rock guitar is where Ky's passion sits, and he brings all of that real-world experience straight into his teaching.
Ky's approach is relaxed, friendly, and built around helping students actually enjoy the process while still making real progress. Technique is a major focus in his lessons; once those fundamentals are in place, everything else becomes easier and more natural. Whether that is rhythm playing, lead work, or building confidence on the fretboard.
Serving students in and around Barnet, North London.
Ky teaches from his cosy living room in Totteridge and Whetstone, just a two-minute walk from Totteridge & Whetstone tube station.
Parking is limited due to a residents-only zone, but drop-offs are perfectly fine if you are driving to your lesson.
Expert tutoring and structure make anything possible! 🎉
Ky combines his own experience and skill with our hand crafted course material and write up tools, to offer the complete learning experience. Our course material works in a very specific way that guarantees success. We teach you a new technique, skill or piece of theory via the course material, then as you improve in that we apply it to real world songs.
Plus, after the lesson you can find your material, notes and feedback live in your login area, direct from Ky, so you don’t miss a beat! This means you get the understanding of what you are doing, the ability to do it, and the fun of playing the songs you love! What could be better?
Lesson notes Tuesday 10th March
Great work today Jen, you absolutely smashed those chord changes! You've now completed the second lesson of our course. 🎉
So, this week I want you to continue working with this spider exercise, but now that you have the hang of it, try to do it at 70BPM, as we did in the lesson. Here's the tab as a reminder for you:
As well as that, with your 3 chords, I want you to try this slightly altered strumming pattern, once again alongside the beat that we were practising to.
Best of luck with your practice, Jen, and if you have any questions at all, just reach out and let me know.
See you next week, Ky.
