Hi friend, Dan here! Thank you for taking a few minutes to read this page, it's a very important update.
From next week (likely Monday) we are making an enormous change to our online courses. As you know, until now we have provided all of you with every single course absolutely free on our website. We've included the 20 video lessons, full write up, tabs, diagrams & backing tracks. One of our main motivations behind this choice was to reach as many students across the world as we could, no matter their financial situation or where they lived. We wanted to serve this community with incredible free content.
It's hard to believe, but it's been 5 years since we started offering the courses for free, and it's finally time for a change.
The freemium model, as this is known, has served us well. We've relied completely on our students' incredible support and generosity, so let me say a massive heart felt thank you to every student who has downloaded courses, taken offers and signed up to our YGA Club. You guys have kept us moving forward and I am eternally grateful for that. Just to clarify, anything you have purchased, and all downloadable material will stay exactly the same.
Essentially, we can no longer afford to offer our courses for free. I have been in a lot of conversations with colleagues, friends & family to make sure that we make the right choice as a business, and start to accept and fall in love with our new direction as a company.
I believe that, 5 years later, our online offering is the best on the web. Our courses are beautifully crafted, the new Club website is just incredible & the support from our staff and mentors is second to none. You simply cannot find a better place online to achieve your guitar dreams. We'll get you there, and we take a lot of pride in that fact.
Interestingly, we've also found that because the courses are free, people tend to not make the big commitment to themselves that they do when paying for a course. When our students are in the mindset of paying a good price for lessons, they make that internal promise to themselves that they will put the effort in, and that they will do the work required. With the free courses, we find it often works the other way, as they almost don't believe it's as good as paid courses and therefore don't put the work in. This has been a massive eye opener for us, and the second major factor for the upcoming changes.
From next week we will be taking the first major step to removing a large chunk of free content. Don't worry, we're not going to do it all at once. Our first step is to remove the content underneath the videos. All the write ups, tabs, backing tracks, fretboard diagrams & scale patterns will only be available in our YGA Club or via the download of the course.
The videos, for now, will still remain free!
I hope that you can all understand this change, and why we are making it. I respect every single one of you in this epic guitar community, and really love the journey we're on together. I wanted you guys to know our plans before we execute them, and I welcome all feedback.
The really good news is, with this shift, we will be able to make our products even better. Our YGA Club, which is already helping hundreds of students surpass even their wildest guitar dreams, is only going to improve. We have big plans to ensure that we can serve you guys with the most incredible guitar tuition experience. We'll take you from the frustrations you may feel now, to transforming how you look at the guitar, how you play, how you love the journey & celebrate the wins!
