The main idea and driving force behind this lick is the crossover of the CAGED chord shapes we are using & the pentatonic shapes that go with them. This is the backbone of the Hendrix school of guitar playing, and with this lick we can really get into it quickly! First up, here is the chord progression we are working with:
G / Bm7 / D / C /
We are in the overall key of G major, but as we hit each of these chords we consider them as separate "islands" where we can use our pentatonic shapes.
