This is the opening track from the album Electric Light is huge! From the main drop D guitar riff, to the ethereal sounds in the bridges, this track is an amazing way to start an album and a great song for us to learn!
The main riff is a really cool drop D part, that is the backbone of the entire song. Drop D, for those who don't know, simply means changing the low E string to D. You tune it down by a tone to get that low D sound. There are three different riffs to work through. The first ends on the F#, the second on the D and the third back to the F#. We use the same chord shape for the whole riff, just moving it around the fretboard. Here are all the places we move the chord:
When the heavy guitar riff stops and the epic synth comes in we have some new chords to play. These are played by a synth, so this is the way we have decided to play it, and it works well with the track. Don't be afraid to get your delay and reverb pedal out here!! These are the chords:
Finally there is also a bridge section where the chords are:
D5 /// //// B5 /// //// A5 /// //// F#m /// //// D5 /// //// B5 /// //// A5 /// //// A5 /// // A/G# /
You can play these chords in the shapes above, or just as basic powerchords, however you would like to and prefer to!
All done?
Congratulations
