This chilled out track from the weekend is a great lesson for beginners who want to practice their open chord shapes and really master a basic fingerstyle arrangement that you can use over and over again with this style of music!
The Chords: Beginner Chords
The first thing to note is that the 4 chords we are using are based on having a capo in the 2nd fret. This makes the chords more maneagable for beginners to play. The chords are shown here:
The Rhythm: Fingerstyle groove
We are doing a fairly basic rhythm pattern, but the key is to get the groove bang on! We are using a 'slap' effect that is great fun to play. The strumming pattern looks like this, and we play each chord for half a bar each. So when you look below, the '1' and '3' are the chords, and the '2' and '4' are the slap effect!
