Summary: 1612

This song is definitely one of the most successful Vulfpeck records, thanks in part to the unbelievable vocal stylings of Antwaun Stanley. As a guitar track, we are learning the main bass riff, which is doubled up on the guitar. It's a very cool part but can also get very intricate. We'll also take a look at the basic chords in the track.

The Chorus: Guitar Line

We'll kick off with the chorus and intro section. We are essentially moving between the C major and F major chord as a bass player would by using passing notes from the scale of C major and arpeggios of G and F major. Here is the basic tab with the main notes (use the video for the rhythm!)

The Verse: Guitar Line

The verse moves between a G7 and an F7 chord, so our bass/guitar line reflects that by once again targeting those root notes and playing around with the scale tones or arpeggio tones.. Here is the basic tab with the main notes (use the video for the rhythm!)

The Bridge: Guitar Line

The bridge uses a far more complicated line that Thomas walks you through slowly in the video. Essentially we are playing over the following chords: Em /// Am /// D7 /// F /// G ///. This is a really cool line that is well worth learning, and also very important to understand what chords you are essentially spelling out. Remember, we're thinking a little bit like bass players here!

The Chords: Keyboard Part

If you would just rather jam some chords over this track, then we can learn the basic shapes as well as how the Keyboard plays them! Here are all the chords you need:

    Keep Learning: George Benson

If you love the guitar playing style here, with very cool chromatic runs and quick lines, you'll probably love a bit of George Benson as well... And we have the perfect player study for you! It's a ful course, and totally free (As is everything on the site). You can find it here: George Benson Guitar Lessons.

Backpocket

This is a super funky and beautifully syncopated track from the masters of modern pop funk! Originally from the album Thrill Of The Arts, this track uses simple enough chords based on the CAGED chord system, but we really focus in on how to take those big chunky shapes and make them funky!
