Free guitar lesson
Back to course indexIn this lesson we take a broad look at where to start when learning how to solo. We even take a quick look at a some awesome solos to help you understand how we can learn from the best!
This is undoubtably the place to start for most people, and the pentatonic scales really are that good! The most common position to use is the shape 1, which is shown below in two or three different keys. Once you have the basic shapes down you can start using some cool techniques - slides, vibrato and bends to really help sound less like a scale, and more like a melody or vocal line.
If you enjoyed the section where we went through all the songs, here are full guitar tutorials of those songs that you can work through.
